While one does want to have Windows XP to do updates, sometimes you get annoying reminders every 5 minutes or so. To get rid of the notices you have two options.
1. Control Panel – Admin. Tools – Services
Right click on Automatic Updates and change to stop.
You can then reboot when you want.
2. Start – Run – Type in gpedit.msc and then then navigate to Windows Update.
Computer Configuration -Admin. Templates-Windows Components-Windows Update.
You then can change many of the option to control the Auto Updates Function.
