Gmail – Turn Off Images

Apparently Google has unilaterally decided to show all the images in Gmail. This featured has been turned off in the past, but now has been turned on by default. I personally don’t like to look at images on most of my mail except from friends.  Showing images also allows you to be tracked by companies to know when you look at their images.

There is a way to get around this – here’s the procedure.

  •  Google Gears in Gmail
  • Settings – General – Images
  • Click on – Ask before displaying external images
