Show File Extensions

One thing I do with all the computers I work on is to make sure I turn on the Show File Extensions. I’ve never understood why this function is not automatically turned on. If you look at a file that says “openme” it could be a .txt file or a malicious .exe file. You need to know which it is by turning on file extensions. Here’s how to do it in Windows 7.

Show-File-Extensions

– Start
– Control Panel
– Folder Options
– Uncheck the option which says “Hide extensions for known file types.
